DIAH 'O' METER: 5/7
I'm always drawn to suspenseful titles such as this, read the little summary at the back of the book, and honestly had quite high expectations as to how the story will turn out.
This book follows Evie Carter, the daughter of a successful Harvard professor who was deemed a genius mathematician, highly respected in his community and seen as one of the greatest minds of his time. Sadly, the dad whom Evie adored so much had to tragically die in her hands. The police ruled the death as an accident, and Evie, 16 at the time, had to carry the burden until 16 years later, when her husband was found dead in their home office. When the officers arrived, Evie was found standing there with a gun in her hands. No doubt Evie looked like the prime suspect in this homicide. Two deaths involving a gun that was found in Evie's hands, made the detective assigned to the case wonder if what happened 16 years ago was really an accident.
Evie claimed to have loved her father, and it was evident throughout the book. She also claimed to have loved her deceased husband, and they were expecting a baby together. There were no witnesses, and no signs of other people having been in the house. So, who could have done it?
Towards the end of the book, we could already have a good guess as to who committed the crimes. Wasn't a twisted ending, which I would have very much preferred.
Worth reading/ okay/ not
