DIAH 'O' METER: 6.3/7

"A woman's past need not predict her future. She can dance to new music if she chooses. Her own music. To hear the tune, she must only stop talking. To herself, I mean. We're always trying to persuade ourselves of things."

After a few months of reading just fiction, this book was like a breath of fresh air. Based on real life settings of Tennessee Children's Home Society, it follows the story of Rill Foss and her struggles in keeping her family together. There are two point of views in the book, that of Rill Foss's that takes place during the first half of the twentieth century, and Avery Stafford of present day.

It tells a heartfelt story of two different worlds that intertwine with each other and the strength of siblings bond that lasts through a lifetime.

DEFINITELY WORTH READING!
